How do I apply for a grant?

What are the deadlines to apply for a grant?

Do you have to be a 501c3 (non-profit) organization to apply for a grant?

No, but you must be charitable in nature.

Can a school district apply?

Yes.

Can a group of people within the school district apply?

Yes, groups such as a public school foundation, booster clubs or other supporting groups are eligible to apply.

Can a church apply?

Yes.

Can a coalition of organizations apply if some are 501c and some are not?

Yes.

If you receive a grant the first year, will it be possible to receive a grant in subsequent years?

Yes; however, it would be contingent upon the performance and outcome measurements of your prior grant.

Can an organization apply for multi-year grants?

Yes.

Why doesn't the Foundation help pay for new roads?

The Foundation was established as a non-profit organization and due to IRS regulations, there are dividing lines between what a non-profit organization can fund and what is recognized as costs to be absorbed by the city itself.

Who manages the City of Muskogee Foundation?

The Foundation is overseen by a local Board of Directors. Following a competitive selection process for the daily management of the Foundation, the Muskogee City Council selected Communities Foundation of Oklahoma.
