Download the Health & Wellness Committee's Mission & Priorities

Mission:
The mission of the Health and Wellness Grants Committee is to provide assistance for programs and initiatives which focus on the health and wellness of the citizens of Muskogee.  Priority consideration for the next five years will focus on the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan, elimination of generational poverty, and collaborative approaches to teen pregnancy prevention.

Types of Funding:
Consideration will be given for multiple types of funding designed to meet the priority considerations of this committee.  With Board approval, the committee reserves the right to fund preliminary workshops, write a Request For Proposal, hire a coordinator, and work in conjunction with other organizations to meet its funding priorities.

 Specific Funding:
Priority consideration will be given to initiatives relating to the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan,  (including tobacco prevention, obesity reduction through increased physical activity and better nutrition, and children’s health) as well as initiatives relating to the elimination of generational poverty (such as the Bridges Out of Poverty model).

Collaborative approaches for teen pregnancy prevention will also be considered.

Additional consideration will be given to fund specific needs such as resource materials, publications, medical treatments, and new health and wellness initiatives or pilot projects, as resources allow.

Future Funding:
Funding in future years will be based on measurable outcomes and sustainability of the initiative.
